About me

I bought my very first PC computer in 1990 (286 MHz AT, 1 MB RAM, 40 MB HD and a monochrome, hercules monitor), and that was the day when I got fell in love with computers.

Thorough the years I frequently and regularly purchased the latest models, to be at the high end, but soon I realized that this battle can not be won, so better to look elsewhere.

Instead of faster and more powerful, I started to get the ones with better design, different operating systems and soon enough found myself in the loving arms of GNU/Linux (happened in 1999, when I experienced with Debian v2.1, slink).

After many years and even more computers I started use - almost exclusively - Apple computers, laptops, but my interest for hacking Linux stayed there (probably forever).

ASUS introduced the EeePC and I immediately felt, that this is something I need to own and use.

In February 2008 I purchased my 701 machine, and in April I had to buy the new 900.

When the 901 series came out with the new Intel Atom processor I could resist for couple of month, but in September 2008… well… you guess… I got one.

The EeePC series takes mobile computers to a new level. The product is small, extra portable and offers everything what I need on the road.

It was a clear choice that I use Linux, the default XandrOS based, so called Easy Interface was on my EeePC laptops for a long time.

But soon I discovered a wonderful project, ubuntueee, an this fresh OS just took over all of my EeePC machines.

Did I say all? :) Yes, because in the meantime (end Sept 2008), I bought the EeePC 1000H. I used it for almost 4 month… WOW… :) Then I gave it to my brother (better to infect him as well with the EeePC disease).

The new year, 2009 came with a new gadget, the shiny EeePC S101

And for the record… I currently have my old white 900, and the black 901… all others did not survive long enough…

This blog is nothing special really, just a collection of my experiences with this great device, the EeePC.
